The Afghan Cricket Board announced on Tuesday, May 21st, that former West Indies player Dwayne Bravo has been appointed as the bowling consultant coach for the national team ahead of the T20 World Cup.
According to the Cricket Board, Bravo will commence his duties prior to the T20 World Cup. In another update, the Board mentioned that most of the Afghan national team players have arrived at the Caribbean islands of St. Kitts and Nevis, with additional players, including captain Rashid Khan, expected to join soon.
The Cricket Board stated, “Currently, Dwayne Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket, having claimed 625 wickets in this format. Additionally, he has scored nearly 7,000 runs, making him one of the most successful all-rounders in T20 cricket.”
Although the Cricket Board has not specified whether Bravo’s tenure will extend beyond the T20 World Cup, it is common practice for teams to appoint short-term consultants for major tournaments to adapt to specific conditions.
Dwayne Bravo is known for his extensive career in T20 cricket, which includes significant achievements in both batting and bowling. The Afghan team’s preparations in the Caribbean reflect their strategic planning for the tournament.
